Top Three - August

Tomorrow is (finally) the last day of August. I am so excited about September. Even though it will still be hot and miserable for another month, I am going to pull out all of my fall decorations this weekend and pretend that the heat is gone. September means fall, which means pumpkins, fall leaves, and lots of yummy desserts. Okay maybe that last part is just because I'm pregnant but whatever. I'll take it.

Here are my favorite looks from August:

I hope you all have a great weekend and get some serious relaxation in. I don't plan on doing a whole lot. Maybe a little ice cream, a bunch of movies, and hanging out with my mom who is visiting from Virginia. Have a fabulous weekend!

Keeping It Casual - 25 (Link-Up)

Asos dress (old) and clutch , flats via Ross, sunglasses (here)

Do you ever wear the same thing twice? Of course, we all do. It would be a complete waste to wear something once and never again. So why not feature something on the blog twice? I wore this dress (on the blog) over a year ago so I figured I would wear it once more. Since it has such a billowy silhouette, it has been super comfortable. And my little bow flats were perfect in keeping this dress a little more casual.

Cooler Winds

It has already started to cool down here a bit - highs only in the low 90s! But kidding aside, fall is just around the corner and before you know it, winter will follow. I've put together a few looks that would be perfect for fall and can easily be transitioned to winter with just a simple jacket.

The neutrals in this look are perfect for fall and the leopard coat will be such a fun touch when it really starts to cool down. Look for coats with ties to help you define your waist and maintain a feminine touch.

As much as I like classic, feminine looks, I love edgy looks even more. Especially when done in black and white! Leather-like leggings will be such a great fall/winter staple and can be dressed up and down so many ways.

Casual
Blazer, jeans, bracelet, necklace, sweater, oxfords, bag

A sweater might be all you need in the next few weeks but consider layering a blazer over it for a little added warmth. You will still look polished, even in this casual weekend type look like I've put together.

Easy Fall Look

F21 striped tee (similar here), Chambray via Target (similar here), H&M blazer (similar here), Loved by Heidi Klum jeans (here), BCBG heels (here), Croft & Barrow bag (here), sunglasses (here)

I wore this the other day to church. Since it is usually freezing, I thought the layers would be appropriate. Of course the air seemed to not be working so the layers were really not necessary. However, this is a perfect look for fall days when the weather is a bit cooler in the morning and the evening. It's simple yet dressed up a bit with heels.

On Sunday I hit my second trimester. That is supposed to be the magic hour when the constant nausea subsides. Apparently my body has not gotten that message. This is the longest I have ever had nausea with a baby. Everyone tells me it's because it is a girl. I guess we will find out in March! Have a great day!

Polished and Casual - Part 2

Old Navy vest (similar here), jacket (similar here), and glasses, LOFT dress (similar here), Sole Society flats (similar here), Zara clutch (similar here), belt via TJ Maxx (similar here)

Last Friday I did a post that I called 'polished casual,' which you can read here. As much as I wear heels, I've been trying to add flats to my look a little more lately. I think they are a great way to dress a look down somewhat.

Keeping It Casual - 24 (Link-up)

Love Culture t-shirt (similar here), H&M blazer (similar here), Loved by Heidi Klum jeans (similar here), ShoeDazzle heels c/o (here) on sale!, Michael Kors bag, sunglasses (here), Forever 21 necklace and earrings, Charming Charlie bracelet

Well, today was my first outfit challenge. Challenge as in, what can I fit into. I finally broke the maternity jeans out but I'm not too sad about it because I really like these jeans. I've toyed with the idea of distressing them but I'm a little worried that I might mess up. Maybe I will look for a distressed pair in a lighter wash and leave these as they are.

Fall on a Budget

I know some of you like to invest in new pieces when fall rolls around each year. This post is devoted to cute fall items for reasonable prices. Any of these pieces would be great additions to your closet for fall, and for such affordable prices you can indulge just a little.

Bags on a Budget
Black and white tote, black clutch, snakeskin clutch, camel crossbody, green satchel bag, camel tote

I definitely like the idea of adding a new bag to my wardrobe when fall comes. Whether it be a neutral color, a bold saturated one, or just black and white, any of these bags would nicely compliment my wardrobe this season. I love the black and leopard clutch and for just $14 I might have to scoop this one up.

Shoes on a Budget
Gold cap toe flats, blue bow pump, red pump, black slingback flats, plaid flats, blue suede oxfords, booties, love me
flats

Since summer is almost over, it's time to start thinking about cute closed-toe shoe options. Normally I'm not into flats that much but with the current selection of such unique and stylish flats, I'm becoming a little more open. I love the idea of that blue suede loafer on a weekend with boyfriend jeans or the plaid flats with skinny jeans for a preppy look.

I think it's always a good idea to see how to work pieces into your wardrobe so I have created a couple of outfits with the bags and shoes that I pictured above.

This outfit looks so comfy and would be perfect for shopping over the weekend or going to a movie.

Dinner Date
Skirt, necklace, earrings

Even though this sweater looks comfy, there is no reason why you can't dress it up for dinner on the weekend. Some cute flats and a contrasting print/textured clutch compliment this look nicely.

Lost and Found

Forever 21 shirt dress (here) (similar with more sizes here), Colin Stuart heels (similar here),
Outrage Fashion c/o clutch (here), Charming Charlie bracelet and necklace, sunglasses (here)

I've been waiting for the right moment to wear this black shirt dress. I picked it up at the beginning of the summer knowing that it would be the perfect transitional dress. No, not a summer-to-fall transitional dress, but a 'normal clothes' to 'maternity clothes' dress. I can still cram myself into my jeans but it is starting to get uncomfortable. This dress was a life saver.

I also thought this magazine clutch (thanks to Outrage Fashion) would work perfectly with this dress. The high-low hem and rolled back sleeves of the dress give it an effortless feel while the clutch adds a touch of cool to the look. And I can't believe I found these heels again. Stacked up high on a shelf next to my wedding shoes sat these red sandals that I have had for years. I love when I find something old again that feels new and fresh when added to my current wardrobe.

Polished Casual

Forever 21 dress and blazer (similar here), blouse via JCP, belt via TJMaxx, Zara flats

I've found that the best way to look put together in any situation is to add a blazer. Whether I'm wearing a plain t-shirt and jeans or a dress, a blazer always manages to make me look somewhat polished. I'm not a huge fan of flats (as I have mentioned before) but I thought they were a great way to dress this outfit down a bit. Rolling back the sleeves on the dress and blazer also help to give this look a slightly casual vibe.

Please take a second and vote for me in the Wallis Fall Fashion contest. The winner is picked from the top five bloggers (and I need to get in the top five!). You can vote here.

Animal Prints for Fall

With fall rapidly approaching, I've been thinking about adding more animal prints to my wardrobe. Animal prints are fun at any time of the year, really, but something about them just seems perfect for cooler weather.

I've put together a collage of a few pieces that I think would carry you from fall all the way through winter. Some pieces (like the shoes and bags) are perfect for year-round.

I've already purchased this printed short coat from Zara (on sale for $50!) and I can't wait to throw it on with some skinny jeans. I think it will also be a great jacket to put over a black dress (or really any color dress for that matter) in the winter.

gloves

These winter gloves are so cute and for only $9 I think they would be the perfect addition to any woman's wardrobe. In my opinion, animal prints look great paired with other bright colors and I think these gloves would look so cute with any of the above coats.

Shoes and More

Since any animal print lover's wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a bag or shoes, I've included a few of my favorites.

* Don't forget to enter The Rad Market giveaway here and the Forever 21 giveaway here.

Please do me a huge favor and stop by the Wallis Facebook page and vote for me. I'm in a contest with several other bloggers to win a trip to NY for fashion week and your vote can make all the difference. You can vote hourly here!

Keeping It Casual - 23 (Link-Up)

Love Culture tee, Wallis c/o blazer (here), ASOS maternity pants (here) non-maternity version (here), Worthington wedges via JCP, gifted jewelry, F21 clutch and earrings

I've really tried not to break out the maternity stuff just yet but I couldn't resist these pants. These baggy pants gave my black tee and blazer the perfect casual vibe that I was going for.

This is the third look that I've put together with the blazer sent to me by Wallis. Several bloggers and I were challenged to come up with 'fall transitional' looks. What is better than a blazer to transition into fall? You can see the previous ways that I have worn this blazer here and here.

Since only one blogger can win this fall fashion contest (the grand prize being a trip to NYC for fashion week!) I would be so happy if you would vote for me here. You can vote hourly until the 26th.
